You point out an unfortunate truth about our current reality. It is easiest for those with privilege given by the current systems to make the shift into caring.

Yet, it is those with the most privilege and capacity for caring that want to uphold the status quo to maintain that privilege.

It feels like it is up to us somewhere in the middle, with just enough privilege to start caring -- to try and snowball enough energy into caring that we'll be able to lift up those less privileged -- and build new systems that tear down the privilege inequalities and make more room for all to care.

I believe most of us are stuck in a state of inaction masquerading as action in some way. We are too afraid and ashamed to speak up against the collectives we are part of. Yet we love to see ourselves as caring, that’s the way we cope.

Good to make a distinction between care and concern.

„Where a man runs the risk of being branded a mangy sheep by the community, good society, colleagues, hypocrisy develops. Hypocrisy is the worst emptying of reality that can occur. The hypocrite does not have enough love for community renewal in his body to overcome social shame." - Eugen Rosenstock-Huess

This describes the state where most of us are stuck. There’s so many things wrong with society snd we are stuck in a constant fight between opinions and beliefs instead of changing things while being embedded in truth.

Thank you for drawing this distinction between 'concern' and 'care.' And reminding us of our degree of agency. Always love reading your posts.

I think they're are 3 kinds of people in this world.

1 People who learn others words and live by them.

2 People who feel others words and live by them.

3 People who figure it out for themselves.

We have declared the ones who figure it out for themselves crazy. Which means the sane ones, who have nothing new to offer, are our leadersan. So we can all expect to die in the upcoming collapse.

We are on what seems like the same wave length, Jessica. I'm currently working on a piece that explores striking this balance, where concern informs caring (a verb) like love informs loving. Thank you for providing me a jumping off place. And looking forward to the possibility of more synchronicities to come. ;)
